Overview
Aerospace, Defense and Marine Industry - Quality Engineer III - Reports to the Quality Manager, Interprets and applies supporting policies pertaining to Quality and corresponds directly with customers on matters pertaining to quality. Establishes and directs implementation of in-process and final audit programs which assures and acceptable level to customer. Publishes and monitors reports pertaining to quality performance and takes action accordingly. Establishes and maintains QA records as required. Assists in planning, coordinating and implementing training programs. Directs Audit Team Leaders, Coordinates source inspection by our customers or government inspection on final product. Confers directly with customers regarding quality/return matters.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
Manage internal policies and procedures to assure CII compliance to ISO 9000.
Assist in development of advanced quality systems, such as SPC and Continuous Improvement programs.
Educate CII and supplier base on these systems.
Assist in implementation of said systems both in-house and at suppliers.
Maintain auditing program for compliance to ISO 9000 and MIL-STD-790.
Other duties as required.
Leads, instructs and coordinates the work of Reliability Engineers and technical support personnel. 1. Utilizes testing procedures during the design and development phase of new products and processes to assure that the design is reliable in meeting the functional and life requirements of the applications in which the product or process will be used; the producability of the design is consistent with practical capabilities of manufacturing, and design requirements are adequately documented on drawings and specifications. 2. Provides statistical engineering support necessary to assure that the product designed, produced and marketed will perform as required. This support will utilize tools such as designed experiments, failure mode analyses, statistical tolerance evaluations and other problem solving and evaluation techniques. 3. Provides expertise in the concepts of analysis of variance, regression analysis and other applicable statistical techniques as required for use in the analysis of engineering data. 4. Coordinates and tracks the status of testing failure reports and associated corrective actions. 5. Provides coordination and assistance with the statistical quality control/statistical process control (SQC/SPC) activities. These activities include training and implementation. 6. Contacts Development, Product and Manufacturing Engineering, Purchasing, vendors, and manufacturing personnel to resolve problems, and to supply information pertinent to reliability investigations and findings. 7. Coordinates design review meeting requests. Issues notices and minutes and coordinates resulting action item activity. Attends design review meetings and when required act as chairperson and/or secretary. 8. Fosters a close working relationship with the Development Engineering organization and jointly focus attention on meeting the established goals and objectives for new product development cycles. 9. Coordinates product testing activity (including development, qualification and requalification) in accordance with 102-8 and assures that corporate guidelines are met. 10. Assists with the development and preparation of product specifications. Tracks the status from tentative through release and coordinates activities with Corporate Standards. 11. Stays abreast of reliability and statistical principles and practices, and incorporates new methods and ideas into existing programs. 12. Trains Reliability Engineering personnel as required. 13. Communicates with engineering personnel on issues involving Reliability Engineering functions and assignments and communicates with test personnel on issues involving recommended statistical test procedures. 14. Works with engineering, sales, and marketing in developing customer relations by answering complaints and solving product reliability problems.
Qualifications:
Strong verbal and written communications skills are necessary to interface with internal and external personnel.Engineering background would be a plus.
EDUCATION: B.S. Degree or the equivalent
Experience: 5 years in Quality, Industrial, Manufacturing or Design Engineering
